Drilled Pile for the Upper Retaining Wall are almost Completed at the 29th Kilometer of Adler - Alpika-Service Route |
|
Drilled piles that are necessary for erection of a retaining wall at the 29th kilometer of Adler - Alpika-Service Mountain Resort combined motorway and railway route will be completed shortly.
The builders are drilling the last boreholes, after which they will proceed with the next retaining wall construction phase, grillage concreting. "The short timeframe for construction demanded that we provide maximum possible concentration of equipment and workforce on this construction site," says Maksim Franchuk, Leading Engineer, Production. "To accomplish the task, we deployed 12 drilling rigs at a time within a relatively small space in October last year." The upper retaining wall in the Kepsha town area will protect the pillars of the Olympic route longest bridge against landslides. The bridge is over two and a half kilometers long. The wall that is 550-meters long will consist of 31 sections as per design. Each section includes 13 drilled piles, each 20-meter long. The need to erect that many drilled piles was the reason why a substantial quantity of drilling equipment had to be deployed. The upper retaining wall is part of a system of installations that will protect the railway bridge against environmental factors. The bridge that is located in the Mzymta River valley will be also protected by a 929-meters long lower retaining wall against seasonal floods. In addition, a drainage system will be put in place on the mountain slope to drain the storm runoff. Svetlana Ustinovich / SK MOSTPhoto: Michael Agafonov / SK MOST |
